I purchased the Samsung LN22A450 after considering many other models in the Samsung lineup (the 19" version of this set as well as the 6 series version). I found that the 19" was still a bit too small for my liking, and the 6 series did not have enough improvements over this model to warrant the $90 increase in cost (the LN22A650 was on sale at a local store for $550). I ended up buying this television for $460 from amazon, and I am very happy with my decision. The tv is a perfect size for my small bedroom, and the picture quality is superior to many other brands that I have seen.
Pros:
-Built in digital tuner can be used to receive FREE HD channels via OTA broadcasts when connected to an antenna (almost all hdtv's have this, but it's an important feature to note if you don't want to pay for cable)
-PC input (VGA) can be used to connect a laptop for viewing streaming or downloaded internet content
-Picture quality (free HD channels are amazing, and upconverted DVDs are also great)
-Aesthetics of the tv set itself (it looks pretty slick when paired up with a matching upconverting dvd player, the Samsung DVD-F1080 1080p Upconverting Compact DVD Player)
Cons:
-Only 1 HDMI input
-VGA instead of DVI input for PC
-SRS "surround sound" is disappointing; I just keep it turned off and turn up the volume
Despite the few complaints, I still give this product 5 stars, because samsung seems to have gotten all the more important details right with this tv. You can't really expect to get impressive sound from hidden speakers that are pointed downwards, though the quality is good enough for a small room. Highly recommended!

I agonized over this purchase since there were such mixed reviews. This tv is wonderful. It works perfectly and has a good picture. I don't know what people find wrong with the sound. I guess I don't have discerning ears.

When I needed to upgrade the TV in our kitchen, it had to fit in a cabinet-end box that had been designed for a 20" CRT Sony 10 years ago. I soon learned that few HDTV mfgrs are building HDTVs that are 22 - 23". After a lot of web research and viewing and measuring LCD and plasma TVs in retailers, we agreed that the 22-inch Samsung was the best for us. While it's widely available in many retail outlets and sites, Amazon's price was the best. It was delivered in just a few days and the set has a beautiful picture and "fits" our needs perfectly.

As a semi-pro digital photographer I'm really critical about color accuracy. If you spend the time tweaking the various color settings you can get excellent results from a high-quality source. The up-scaling from standard video is a bonus, much better than any tube (CRT) TV, very smooth and detailed with no obvious artifacts. Check out "The Fellowship of the Ring" from the LotR trilogy--it looks almost like 3-D!!! I don't have HD but I expect the HD quality would be even higher.
As many have noted, the sound is adequate at best, but the built-in equalizer helps a lot. The Logitech S220 2.1 system would probably be a good sound upgrade for this TV.
The auto-matching of aspect ratio from various sources has worked perfectly. Again, a huge improvement over a standard 4:3 tube TV. My previous set was an outstanding 20" Toshiba flat-screen tube model (i.e., not LCD), but this Samsung LCD beats it in every respect. I'd never go back to a tube TV, and I think this Samsung is a great buy for the money.

I love my 22 inch Samsung. I was going to buy a 26 inch set, however, the sofa's only 5 or 6 feet from the TV, so 22 inches is more than adequate. The picture is outstanding, however, I have one problem that cannot be solved because it's with Verizon, not Samsung.
We have Verizon FIOS and our Samsung TV is connected to a Verizon HD box via an HDMI cable. It worked well for a few hours, but then we lost the signal to the HDMI connector. This happened on and off again for two days, so Verizon sent out a service technician. While he was at the house, he commented about the outstanding quality of the picture on the Samsung. He installed a new HDMI cable and he also attached Component Cables as a backup, just in case with had more problems with the HDMI signal.
I'm glad he installed the Component Cables because we lost the HDMI signal one day after he left. Investigation with Samsung revealed there is an HDMI incompatibility with Verizon Set Top Boxes. There's nothing wrong with the Samsung HDMI connector, it's just that the Verizon Set Top Boxes are slightly behind the time and currently do not support the advanced Samsung HDMI connector. Hopefully a Verizon Firmware upgrade will eventually solve this problem.
Until that time, we've been using the Component Cables to connect with the Verizon Set Top box and the picture is still outstanding! If you don't need a gigantic television, I highly recommend this 22 inch LCD HD TV.
As for the audio, it's fine and on par with other LCD TV's. If you're an audio buff and need top of the line audio, connect the TV to an inexpensive Samsung [or any other brand] Home Theater system. That's what we did. I connected our 22 inch Samsung to an Onkyo Stereo Receiver, along with two bookshelf speakers and the sound is terrific.
We're pleased with the 22 inch screen because we sit so close to the television. You'll have to be the judge on screen size because it's obviously a personal preference. We also like the fact that it doesn't take up very much room.
As for the picture, everyone who sees it loves the quality of the video.
